    Reflections on Leadership and LDR

LDR 101 taught me a number of things- about young adult fantasy novels, myself, and leadership. I learned that I am definitely more of an interdependent leader than an autonomous, that is, I lead by listening to others and considering people’s ideas instead of diving into something with only my opinion being given. The women and girls of the story are either portrayed as being weak leaders or nuisances, or when portrayed in a powerful way, as villians. Throughout the course of the story, there are three female “leaders”: Susan, Lucy, and the White Witch. The movie version makes the gendering of the autonomous and interdependent leadership traits more extreme, contributing to the gender inequality in leadership. As described by Gilligan, Lyons, and Hammer of the Emma Willard School study, the autonomous mode of leadership is defined…

    Five Strengths

For the CliftonStrengths theme results, my top five were input, intellection, empathy, deliberative, and adaptability. At first glance, some of these surprised me, but upon really reading the descriptions, all five fit me. Even if not every description fit me one hundred percent, I could see myself in every trait. Although all five of those traits and their descriptions described me pretty well, there was one that stood out in comparison to my own personal description. The strength theme that stood out to me most was input. The description claims that it I collect things- information and items, which I do both of. I have collections of quotes, snowglobes, stickers,…
