In conclusion, the women’s rights movement in Egypt and the Middle East as a whole was influenced by the West, but it was not defined by it. Middle Eastern feminism was its own product of the times, influenced by local factors such as religion and centuries old traditions, but yes, Western ideologies had an impact on it. Overall, though, the ideologies started by women activists in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries still prevails in our current day political climate.
